About CLA

  • Our Mission

The mission of Collective Learning Academy is to maximize the potential of each student, meeting them at their current academic and functional level and moving them forward. We work to instill confidence and competence in each of our students, building a foundation for success and independence.

  • Our Vision

Our logo demonstrates our vision of collaboration between staff, students, and parents. The squares represent “collective” work as an essential building block to each student’s success. The larger heart represents the parent involvement and the smaller heart represents our students. The collaborative effort of all deeply impacts lives of our students and staff.

At The Collective Learning Academy, we remove obstacles to learning. Once barriers are removed, we teach both academic and functional skills in their smallest components through researched-based teaching strategies thus helping students find success at each step, encouraging them to persevere.

Collective Learning Academy’s low teacher/student ratios ( 1:1, 1:2, 1:3) allows for individualized and highly customized instruction. The program for each student is carefully planned and implemented based on thorough educational assessments, parent feedback and teacher input. As each student progresses, adjustments are made to instruction to move the student to the next level. Students are grouped by levels, grades and ages but can encounter a variety of groups in a given day. All students are continually monitored and assessed to ensure progress in targeted learning outcomes.

The Academy works with students from age 11-22, and we now offer a Transition Program for students who have completed their secondary schooling.

CLA offers its Academy students the option of graduating with a general education or special education diploma.

Our History

The Collective Learning Academy (CLA) is a collaboration of teachers and parents seeking comprehensive educational opportunities for their children with disabilities. CLA formally opened in May 2017 after having served students with disabilities and learning differences in other settings for over 20 years. CLA currently serves students ages 10-21 on the Autism Spectrum, students with Cerebral Palsy, other developmental disabilities and related neurological conditions.

Using a highly individualized approach to learning, The Collective Learning Academy teaches the core classes of English/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science using a multi-sensory and engaging approach. Students access age and developmentally appropriate Georgia performance standards. Using technology, our teachers make learning fun and meaningful in a hands-on, project-based way.

Teachers have a wide variety of curriculum from which to choose including computer-based general education and special education academics as well as neurotechnologies.
